About
Shot in the middle of winter, somewhere in the Alps, during a snowfall that showed no sign of stopping.
The building sits in the white like it was always there — concrete cantilevered over the slope, glass panels holding the sky. No signage, no colour, no ornamentation. Just mass, angle, and the particular silence that comes when everything around a structure is the same shade as the sky.
I shot it over two days, waiting for the light to flatten completely. When it did, the building stopped looking like architecture and started looking like an idea. Something thought up and placed there by someone who trusted the snow to do the rest.
Masse Blanche is about what buildings look like when weather takes over.
